DIY Halloween Costumes {and a contest!}

Have you started thinking about your Halloween costumes for this year? I always get a little overwhelmed by how much it can cost to buy everyone in my family a costume. Luckily, I can pass them down through my three boys each year. There are also so many great ideas out there for DIY Halloween costumes. We have featured several ideas on our blog in the last few years that you can check out and I also wanted to share a few fun and clever ideas with you.

My brother and sister-in-law are Halloween costume pros! Every year they come up with some really fun idea for costumes and they make them or find pieces to put together themselves.

One year they were Mickey and the broom from Fantasia. They found a few components and then put the rest together themselves and it was so fun and creative!

They have also been the smurfs. This is a perfect idea for this year because Smurfs 2 just recently came out! If you can find or make some smurf shaped hats, the rest is easy to pull together!

One of my all time favorites that they did was American Gladiators. Remember that show?!

They've also come up with really fun, yet simple costumes for the kids as well!

 I loved when my nephew was a secret agent. It is super easy to put together, but what kid wouldn't think that is cool?

 My niece was a waitress. I loved it and again...so simple to put together!

Well, once you figure out your Halloween costumes, you need to also know about this great contest going on. Enter the Hub Network's 1st Annual Halloween Bash Costume Contest! Show them your best costume! One entrant from every state in America will be chosen as a semi-finalist and flown to Hollywood, CA to appear in the Hub Network’s First Annual Halloween Bash to compete for a chance to win the Grand Prize of $25,000! Contest Registration is open until September 29th. No pre-made or out of the box costumes will be accepted, they want to see your own unique creation!

Hey, I just wanted to stop by and say thank you for the Gather Love baby quilt tutorial you did for Riley Blake. I finally found the perfect person to make it for, and it turned out so, so cute. It's an inventive and unique pattern. LOVE it!
